DONATIONS FUND ELEVATOR WORK AT ILLINOIS HOMELESS SHELTER
Dream Center, a faith-based homeless shelter providing social services to low-income individuals in Peoria, Illinois, received donations totaling US$355,000 that are allowing it to repair a pair of 64-year-old elevators that serve the eight-story building, the Journal Star reports. Most shelter programs, such as transitional housing, are located on the higher floors, meaning people had to climb stairs due to the elevators being out of service. Hearing of Dream Center’s plight, two donors presented the agency with US$150,000 checks.
