ALIMAK CONSTRUCTION HOIST IN NYC IS WORLD’S LARGEST
A hoist system used recently in construction of the Langone Kimmel Pavilion hospital expansion at New York University in New York City (NYC) included the world’s largest construction hoist, Alimak Hek’s Mammoth Triplex. With 27,225 lb. of lifting capacity and more than three times the floor area of other large hoists, Mammoth Triplex is the most advanced system Alimak Hek has installed to date. At the NYC site, where space was limited, Mammoth Triplex was joined by a pair of Alimak Scando 650 FC-S high-speed construction hoists for personnel and an Alimak Scando TM 60/55 FC for personnel and materials. The system was honored with an International Awards for Powered Access (IAPA) Product of the Year award during a gala in London in April, with IAPA describing it as “a fantastic three-in-one product” that represents “very impressive engineering.”
