THYSSENKRUPP’S MULTI A FINALIST FOR CTBUH INNOVATION AWARD
thyssenkrupp’s ropeless elevator MULTI has been named a finalist for the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s (CTBUH) prestigious Innovation Award, which recognizes a recent innovation in a tall-building project that has been “realized in a design, implemented, or thoroughly tested and documented for suitability in a high rise.” The winner will be announced during the inaugural Tall + Urban Innovation Conference planned on May 30-31 at the Aqua Tower in Chicago. Should thyssenkrupp win, the honor would follow winning Gold at the Edison Awards, the German Design Award from the German Design Council and being named a top 25 Invention of the Year by Time magazine.
43-STORY APARTMENT TOWER TOPS OUT IN MIAMI WORLDCENTER
CAOBA, a 43-story apartment tower developed by CIM Group and Falcone Group, has topped out in Miami Worldcenter in downtown Miami, marking a major step forward for what is "one of the largest urban development projects underway" in the U.S., Florida Construction News reports. It is the first tower to top out in the US$2-billion development, and plans for a second, 40-story tower have been approved by the city. Scheduled for completion in the fall, CAOBA will have 444 apartments and 20,000 sq. ft. of ground-level retail at 698 Northeast 1st Avenue.
KÜBLER TAPS NEW REGIONAL SALES DIRECTOR
Kübler has appointed Claudio Zeitvogel sales director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Zeitvogel has more than 20 years' sales and marketing experience, primarily in German-speaking markets, with a focus on highly technical automation. In line with helping achieve Kübler's ambitious growth targets over the next few years, Zeitvogel will "further optimize sales structures so that customers, more and more, perceive Kübler as not only their supplier, but also as their experienced partner." Zeitvogel holds a master's degree in Electronics from Furtwangen University.
FLORIDA CITY’S TALLEST BUILDING NEARS FINISH LINE
ONE St. Petersburg, which will be the tallest building in St. Petersburg, Florida, at 41 stories and 137 m, is on track for completion later this year, SkyRise Cities reports. On the corner of 1st Street North and 1st Avenue North, it is being developed by The Kolter Group and was designed by SB Architects. ONE St. Petersburg will have 253 condominiums, a 174-key hotel, and expansive residential amenities, like pools, seating areas and a second-floor owners' lounge overlooking a 30-ft.-tall atrium lobby. Penthouse residences will be on the top three floors.
